History
The Master Degree Program in Animal Science started its activities in 2002 having been recognized by the following resolutions and ordinances: Res.34/2002 CD, Res. 35/2002 COUN, sentence 179/2005 – CES/CNE published in D.O.U nº 134 of July 14th of 2005 and ordinance 2878/2005-MEC published in D.O.U. 165 of August 26th of 2005.
In turn, the Doctorate Degree Program in Animal Science started its activities in 2010 having been recognized by the following resolutions and ordinances? Res.20/2009 CD, published in B.S. nº 4289 of April 3rd of 2008 and ordinance 1045/2010-MEC published in D.O.U. 159 of August 19th of 2010.
Currently, the courses count on the dedication of 27 tenured professors and 04 invited professors from UFMS, Embrapa and UEMS that assist in the orientations, teaching and elaboration of projects related to dissertations and theses.
Some professors have a productivity research grant and the others have been trying to increase their scientific production, searching for international journals and Qualis A, which was decisive for concept 4 in 2010. The goal of the graduate program is to pass to concept 5 in the Capes evaluation.
In order to improve the search for knowledge and to subsidize the generation of new information of technical-scientific, several projects have been approved in research development agencies, both in the local scope (PROPP), FUNDECT-MS state, and national level (CNPq-universal e FINEP-CTINFRA, verde amarelo program) and private companies. This has led to fund raising to expand its infrastructure (physical and laboratory), resulting in improvements in the conduct of experiments, the importation of equipment and the expressive obtaining of masters and doctorate scholarships.
